What we stand for

The Johan de Witt Scholengroep is an inner-city school for public secondary education at six locations, mainly in the heart of The Hague. We offer all secondary education courses: VMBO basic, VMBO framework, MAVO, HAVO, VWO, practical education, entrance and ISK. All courses have the designation 'Excellent school' and the assessment 'good'. Our school falls under the competent authority of the VO Haaglanden foundation.

Ambitious and focused on development

Johan de Witt offers good education. To continue to offer quality, we are always developing at the Johan de Witt School Group. We set high standards and have high expectations of every Johan de Witt employee, students and staff. The competencies and commitment of our teaching staff determine the success of our students. That is why we are committed to lifelong learning and at our school it is not only about the learning of our students, but also about the learning of our staff.

Involved & connected

We do everything we can to ensure that the student succeeds and is successful. This requires involvement and solidarity from students, staff and parents. Together we ensure that every Johan de Witt employee feels welcome and safe every day and every moment in the optimal possible learning environment.

We always act in the interests of the student and are persistent in doing so, but also remind the student of their own responsibility. This requires customization where possible and necessary. Offering opportunities and possibilities, within pre-set limits, is a prerequisite for this.

Our school reflects The Hague society. Our students and staff have diverse backgrounds, preferences, interests and qualities. The wealth of differences is our strength. The Johan de Witt School Group is truly a mini-society in which we learn from and with each other, so that we can then face the outside world with confidence. At school we treat others as we would like to be treated ourselves, with respect and consideration for each other.

Education is about more than qualification. Personal development is also an important task. Our job is to encourage students to discover their interests and talent. We familiarize students with what is on offer, offer different options and stimulate curiosity and then support them in developing these interests and talents. Naturally, the same applies to the staff.

The school is located in the middle of the rich cultural, historical, sporting and economic environment of The Hague: the international city of peace and justice and the democratic heart of the Netherlands. Our network allows students to make optimal use of this environment.
