Educational support

support

At the Johan de Witt Scholengroep we want every student to obtain a diploma at his/her level. That is what educational support is designed for. The school distinguishes between basic support, basic + support, extra support and in-depth support. This is described in the school support profiles which can be found under ' downloads' .

The support for students must meet the needs of the individual student: tailor-made. Educational support refers to all pedagogical and didactic measures with which we support students in their learning and/or development process, and try to prevent or try to solve learning and/or development problems.

The educational support must contribute to the student achieving his personal goals, developing the necessary skills and qualifying for the period after secondary education. The support that the Johan de Witt School Group offers mainly focuses on problems with learning.

master

As a parent, you would like to be informed of your child's progress. Our student administration system, Magister, offers the opportunity to monitor the grades, whether homework is being done and whether your child brings the agreed materials such as books to school.

Master 6

Magister is in full development. The latest version of Schoolmaster is Magister 6. To log in directly to the correct version of Magister, click here . You can change your password yourself. See the manual for downloads .

RTTI

The most important tool for gaining insight into the developments of the students at the Johan de Witt School Group is the RTTI system. RTTI offers a clear language to discuss learning and performance with students and parents. At the Johan de Witt Scholengroep we deepen the conversation about study progress by discovering the story behind the grade and linking it to concrete and appropriate actions for improvement. In addition to increasing insight into the development of the student and our own educational process, it is also a means of teaching the student a number of skills that he will need in his future life: metacognition ('thinking about your thinking'), general self-reflection and 'learning to learn'.

Levels of cognition

With the help of the RTTI system, the four distinguishable cognitive levels of learning are clearly and transparently mapped out. RTTI provides insight into the cognitive development of students and works as a driving force for educational development within the school.

The letters R, T, T and I represent four different levels of cognition:

  • Reproduction
  • Application in known situation
  • Application in new situation
  • Insight

Behavioral indicators

In addition to the different cognitive levels, behavioral indicators are also linked to the student's results, called OMZA. The letters O, M, Z and A represent four indicators that are related to the four cognitive levels:

  • Organization
  • Participate
  • Self confidence
  • Autonomy
Johan de Witt planner

Each student receives their own planner from school and therefore does not have to purchase their own school agenda. Well-planned homework and insight into after-school activities gives students overview and peace of mind. By planning homework well and starting work and learning on time, learning can be more effective. In the mentor lessons, attention is paid to study skills, planning and organizing. We work with a planner for lower school students and a separate planner for upper school students.
